There have been several people in the forum who have taken advantage of the refurbished lcd's for this project. I would say that you are at least as well off with the refurb then buying off of ebay new or used.

I bought a BenQ FP567s v2 refurb and I honestly wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and a new monitor. The screen was perfectly clean, it had no dead pixels and all the parts looked new. Some people only buy new electronics, but this was about as new as you can get for a good price. It's a nice, high quality monitor.

Refurbished products are usually "new". I know that the computer that I bought, refurbished, was bought, used once, returned, sent to be cleaned and formatted, and then it was considered refurbished. Many refurbished items only have a few hours of use.

They come from benq with warranties just as if they were brand new also... although we void those warranties by stripping it..lol

Has anyone had problems with the BENQ? Mine was working fine and now suddenly all I get are meaningless vertical lines. Is my panel fried?

I have seen that problem before, some have successfully dealt with it. Do a search on DIYAUDIO.COM for, say " VERTICAL LINES ON LCD", there are tons of info on this, some specific to BENQ, like this one:
vertical lines on lcdGood luck.

Sounds like a broken edge connector.

good call on the DIYAUDIO. you're right, lots of others seem to have had the same problem, and it basically boils down to a broken edge connector like brainchild said. Sure enough, theres a tiny crack at the crease where an edge connector meets the pcb which I didnt even see before. guess I just ate $299.
