Hello,
I am an experienced pc builder / overclocker / breaker of pc components smile.gif and am fascinated by the idea of building a projector to complement my gaming rig.. I dont have any experience in wiring etc, and I am in the UK which makes getting parts problematic to say the least..

Anyway, I have hatched a very early plan for building a projector..

Im looking ideally at a 17 inch screen cos of the 1280*1024 res, esp since the price of 17 inchers over here is almost the same as 15's.

Wiring im unsure of, really unsure, and somewhat scared as well biggrin.gif I am planning on minimising my exposure to messing up the wiring and killing myself by using two 'mini circuits'.. (I assume when i strip the monitor I use the built in power cable and dont have to do any fancy business here..)

1)the wiring for the lamp / ballast
2)the wiring for the fans / fan controller. I intend to use an old power supply and the wire trick so I can use this power supply to power the cooling. (being a silence fanatic I will use a pc fan controller with multiple 12cm fans to get the quietest possible cooling)

Now, the lamp /ballast/ wiring, im looking at getting http://www.diyprojectorcompany.com/catalog...&products_id=87 - the 210-240v one (which will work over here in the uk right?) - they wire it up for an extra 10 dollars or something.. Is this lighting kit up to scratch? (i know its kinda from a rival company, but they will do the wiring;))

lenses / fresnels etc im not yet sure of, nor the glass or monitor biggrin.gif - but one thing at a time..

anyways, is there a glaring problem with the above?

cheers
Bob

Welcome to the community and no, no glaring problems. The LCD can use the original power cord. You can spend your time waiting for delivery of your order reading these forums. wink.gif
