i have one question!!
why should use a separate thermometer which costs about 10-12 $ when one can just buy a temp sensor
for about 2 $ and connect it to the PC using serial port....
then the temp could be monitored on the projected screen ...

Sounds like a very good option for people who have their computer near their projector. I'm going to need my computer to be ~15 feet away from my projector (not counting cable management). This means I'd have to have a ~25 foot serial cable running down my ceiling as well...

Hey here's an idea...
Take the LCD screen out of a digital thermometer and stick it on the bottom right of the projection. If it had a small enough footprint it might be very "cool" to have the piece of mind that you can always monitor the temperature.

Hi maxer
this guy has a simple pc based 4 channel thermometer.
the problem is I could not find those sensors and it's game port based.
http://www.cesko.host.sk/GamePortTemp_eng.htmif we can make something like this with serial port that would be really great and benefit so many LL members.
thx

i already did it and it is functional

i'm thinking to implement still some kind of routine to display temperature in the projected screen only when there is a risk of overtemperature... but as i have still to finish my PJ (which by the way is boring me with corners problem) i have not yet implemented inside it.

to hirudin :
sticking the thermo lcd to lcd screen doesn't sound to me a good idea (sorry for saying that)
it would be sufficient a small program to auto display temp in any corner of the projected image only when it is needed ( high burning risk etc etc...)

can you post details/pics how you did it ?
I would like to build it. Did you write your own program ?
thx

found a way to connect temp sensor to pj and display temp in my PC without adding extra cables and quite no extra hardware... but i'm just at the idea and will have to experiment it before to verify in practice.

Screw the PC!
I want a pic or atmel in my projector, to monitor all the temps in various zones and turn on and off fans.
I don't want one of the computer drive bay ones, because those never seem "settable" for how hot is too hot.
