What do you think of this converter. It converts from HDMI to DVI. Then you could use an HDMI to VGA
converter and you can watch movies in many standard HD resolutions (i.e. 480i/p, 720i/p, 1080i/p) without
much difficulty.

Of course, using one of this new DVD players that can upscale to this resolutions. I have one that I payed $80 for it, and can play DivX also. At least I find it better, than to carry my heavy computer tower around every time I want to watch movies

it should work fine as long as the content is not protected(HDCP) although you will have to have a dvi-d to vga converter also... dvi comes in dvi-d and dvi-a, the dvi-a can be "converted" to vga with another plug, but dvi-d needs to be electronically converted, and those can be expensive...

I think it says its dvi-d...but any plug will be hdmi->dvi-d ...takes a cicuit board to change hdmi to dvi-a, at least as far as I know...my ati7500 has dvi out(A) and its just a simple plug to put it into my vga...
