this drawing is by no means correct, it is just made to get the general idea across.

Very crude drawing, looks better on paper... would it work?

If no, why not?
If yes, what should I pay special attention to?

I can see it would be a pretty tight fit, if it fits at all... the drawing i made was a 1:3 scale, of a fresnel-triplet distance of 570mm
The 2nd mirror and the triplet are very close to the lightpath between fresnel and the 1st mirror. Just not sure if it could be squeezed in.

It seems like there was more of a lean toward multiple folds awhile back (2 yrs maybe) but not anymore. My guess is as good as yours as to why this is but I would say it's to keep things simple to align/avoid light loss. But hey, I say go for it if you want. Those are pretty cool, although a bit on the long side.

By looking at his drawing, it kinda looks impossible to fold it back through the light, it simply wouldn't fit.

But what if you, instead of going back directly across the initial lightpath, instead folded the light back so it runs parallel with the original path...
That would actually make for a short and (kind of) shallow design.
