Good res but not so good color rendering. Only ~262k colors. There seems to always be a catch!

It sounds to me this little LCD would make a cheap small (very small with a CRT lens) not bad res projector,
hey it's not the LCD they use in the pre-built projector in the store is it anyone ?

No, If I recall the screen in the prebuilt is a 6 inch. So, theoretically you could make it even smaller wink.gif

I'd try to use a true lense in place of the fresnel. At 3.5 inches it could be a simple magnifing glass. (most are really 2 plano convex lenses stacked) then get a projection lesne to match, say maybe a slide projector lense... Use a hig power halogen lamp like a FXL and you could probably make a very small projector. Cooling could be an issue, but if you take the right precautions you might just be fine. Hmm.... I may have to try this.

4.5" DIA CONDENSER LENS, 6.5" FL $6.00 x 2
http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/l3381.html

MOUNTED MULTI-ELEMENT OBJECTIVE $8.00
http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/l1436.html

Use the the condensers instead of fresnels, and use this objective lense in the standard lumenlab straight thru design. Could work and be cheap, plus you'd be using real lenses instead of fresnels (so no rings, and maybe better overall clarity).

I'm starting to dig this, thats after a quick search on Surplus shed. Can someone actually tell me the price of that screen in usd?

I must be missing something. I am guessing the site is French. As far as i understood it they use EUROS. Can some one explain the below to me? The closest i came was Haiti dollars and that makes the price of this lcd
13,295.00 HTG Haiti Gourdes = 325.105 USD United States Dollars

159,01 €TTC
132,95 €HT

Is that even close to right? Does anyone have a clue.

my old nview panel had that color rendering and it didn't look very good compared to my other panel with 16 million colors?

Well there's a LOT of other factors that determine whether an LCD looks good or not. Specs don't usually mean that much.

159 Euros is about 199 dollars. which is a price that would make sense.

today, 1 Euro = 1.2559 U.S. dollar

it's 159,01€ + 28,00€(shipping costs to haiti) = 192,50 € = 243,01 USD

Having the VGA input will make control through a HTPC and software like FFdshow possible.
Is this PAL only or is it also NTSC compatible?

If some ppl are interested in this screen. I'm from Belgium and doing a groupbuy over there. The price @ www.izzotek.com is nog 170 euro. I'm getting the screens for 150 euro but with composite (extended cable) and vga instead of vga only. If more then 5 pcs are ordered from lumenlab I can send them to one person in the us from this forum for 140 euro excl transports.

extra info:

You can use cheap 150mm dia-projection objectives (80mm is possible too)
You can keep it small by using 35-50watt xenon 2DS lamps (very small, less heat, enough light), I think they also have these in the US?

So it should be possible to make a very small pj for under 250 euro.

Just if ppl would be interested smile.gif

Hey Elektron, do you have any links to PLOGs where folks are successfully using the prime view 3.5"? I would love to see their setups!
