i just got some clear lexan. the only prob is that when u look through it, things go blurry. does this matter?

thanks

No, because you are only shotting light thru it, not an image.

Should be as transparent as glass. In the States, the Lexan has a protective film on both sides and needs to be removed. If you're needing heat shielding, consider tempered glass and adding a sheet of UV film.

The Lexan I have seen is absolutely optically clear and non-distortional when you look through it. Sounds odd.
Andy
i have removed the 2 protective layers. its just for heat shielding so that wont make a difference will it?

thanks

Nope. That's what you're supposed to do to use it.

No wonder it looked blurry! wink.gif

Those layers are simply to protect it while it's being shipped and handled.
Andy
no lol. im saying its blurry with the protective layers removed biggrin.gif

but will it make a difference if its blurry? cos its only light passing through.

thanks
phutton
It shouldn't be blurry at all. Something is wrong.
Andy
hmmm do i need 2 buff it?

thanks
Andy
its not blurry if the object is touching the lexan, but when you move it back, it gets very blurry.

thanks

Try putting your eyeglasses back on!!

Just kidding.

You sure it's just a piece of Lexan and not some sort of lens or diffuser?
Got a pic?
Andy
nope, its lexan, heres where i got it:

but since its very blurry, im thinking of gettin this:

thank you
Durachko
Not right. Can you post a picture? How was it labeled when you purchased it?

In the US we use Lexan XL-10 which is specifically chosen for its ability to block UV wavelengths.

See this post.

The Lexan should be completely clear.

I don't think you'll suffer greatly from this blurring since I'm assuming you'll have the lexan touching the rear fresnel. It will affect things to some degree however. You'd be well-advised to get some of the right stuff.
Andy
i just phoned up the person that the 2nd link is to and it is optically clear. i will be ordering that then.

thanks for the help smile.gif
