Full Version: using a mirror for interesting configurations

last night me and rotordemon were talking and it seems like it would be possible to either build the projector vertically and use a mirror to aim it at the screen. this would cause problems with a reversed image, but that could be fixed by rotating the lcd. you would also have a problem with heat rising. the second would be to build it normally place it parallel with your back wall and use a mirror to put it on your wall. either way you save space. the mirror could also be inside or outside your design. also i'm new here and haven't built a projector yet. i did the panel and ohp thing. but that was no good. this should be better. let's see if we can get passed this.

Yep. Several people have used mirrors here. My final configuration will use a mirror to project out the side of the box. I think a few people have used regular glass mirrors for this, but getting an optical quality front surface mirror might be worth your time.

I don't know that I would be able to tell the difference, but I found good front surface mirrors on Ebay from a guy who was parting out an Xray machine.

I know EdmundOptics has front surface mirrors also, but a little pricey.

Good luck with your design.

Thanks,

Hey hey.. welcome to the addiction biggrin.gif

The idea that crossed my mind after talking put a mirror inside before the triplet at a 45 degree angle, instead of placing it after the box. that way the box would have a footprint of approx 16 inches.
