At present I've adjusted the fresnels to get me more even lighting, which comes at the expense of overall lumens. I have about 250 lumens in this configuration, which is a big hit, but since my screen area is about 2.1m^2 this still results in an average lux over 100, which is an excellent target point.
This observation from Supra meshes with my own observations. I currently have an average lux of about 64 on my screen and can watch TV with medium controlled lighting. Supra states that an average lux of 119 is a little too bright.
One of my goals is too increase my brightness as much as possible so that I have a wider range of adjustments for brightness, contrast, use of a gray screen, etc. After all, I can always find ways to decrease the brightness to my optimal amount. However, if I get just a little extra brightness, maybe to 85 average lux, then I would be happy because it would allow me to reduce my brightness setting on my converter box (and thus reduce the crushing white on bright scenes).
Could those who have a lux meter to tell us the average lux on thier screen and how satisfied they are with it. Also include, based on your current experience, what you think would be an optimal lux for your screen. I think this would be valuable for those who are just starting out and have to decide on a screen size/projector system.
