Here is a very interesting article that I read in Home Theatre Magazine Jan 2006.

Check it out and see what you think!

Here are some pics from the site - They are shining a bright light right onto the screen!

Here are some videos showing their screens.

Hi,

My name is Brian and I am part of a fairly large community of DIY projector builders. One of the main setbacks of the projectors we build is the total lumen output and therefore the performance in lighted environments. Based on the information and video examples of your screen technology I feel many of us could benefit greatly from what you have to offer. What I am interested in is both pricing information for 100" - 120" fixed screens and perhaps a small sample of the material. Many of us have experimented with various screen materials ranging from custom paint mixtures to high gain screens like the Dalite "high power" screen. If you would be willing to supply a small sample for some comparison and testing by community members, there is the possibility for some big time support.

If you would like to check out the community just visit http://www.lumenlab.com and cruise over to the forums. We are an enthusiastic bunch and are always looking for ways to improve our image quality and versatility.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask and If I dont know the answer, I will forward it to someone who does.

Thank you,

Brian

yep we became aware of those screens last year,,, had a whole discussion on them, and they are not cheap, cant remember but they were at least a couple of k for em..

in fact in certain ways it was a small trigger, towards AG removal.. the final bit was sim's scratch that got us all going,, screens almost got forgotten in the fray

Yah I've seen those screens, haven't seen the videos though, that's pretty amazing. But I wonder how they compare to say a regular Da-Lite screen in a dark room....

too funny.. the press video has them showing The Fifth Element on the screen.. they also mention a 96" screen costs around $3000

im guessing its some kind of fibre optic layer..no wonder its crazy expensive

would be cool if they respond to my email and send a sample. Ill be sure to send it to SIM or someone who can compare with dalite.

what they are using is a layer of optical material called a lenticular lens, very much the same as what is used in the orig, lcd panel we all have stripped,,

they are similar to a fresnel lens being circular,,, they are straight,, vertical aligned on their screens..

that is why they are expensive..

ummmm in a funny sense you already have a sample,, try using your backlight grooved plastic sheets on your screen and see what it does,, you'll have to play with it in different postions to see..
