Would I be able to use the lcd monitor from a laptop to build a projector? I thought about getting a Sharp QA-1800 but might get a laptop monitor instead.
Here's a pic of laptop lcd display.

the thing about a laptop lcd is that the video drive is on the main board - i am sure you could figure something out - but just seems like it would be kind of a pain.

Couldn't I buy a connector that would connect it to video source once the monitor had been removed.

like i said - the video is on the "mother board" of a laptop lcd - you would have to pretty much use the whole laptop - with hard drive and all that -
i mean what would you conenct the lcd to? you could not use a standard video card -

You would need a lcd driver board. I know little about it, except that it is more expensive than buying a LCD monitor from a store.

So do you guys suggest I just go with the QA-1800.

to be honest - thats what i would do - it also just depends on your skill level - if you think you can figure it out go for it - if not go with whats already been tested and is proven to work -

Well i'm trying to save money. What kinda quality could i expect with a projection panel as opposed to a lcd panel? I don't need a really big image just something that's maybe 4x7.

7' x 4' is pretty big. Those OHP panels are old tech. Currently the highest quality for the least money is still the 15" lcd.
