So Im getting ready to test fire my bulb I go to wire it up for the first time after only glancing at it previously, I read here and everything (what little bit I can find) says blue/brown and blue/brown.

I look at the schematic on the side of the eballast, it says b/br and b/br which i assume should mean blue/brown and blue/brown but......

I have blue/blue and black/red??????????????

This is a straight wire to test burn. Anyone know what my wiring should be, black/white from chord too what colors on the ballast.

Green from chord to ground on ballast

Black/white from mogul to what colors on ballast.

I not as think as dumb as I are when it comes to those fandangle lectronic thingamajiggers, but I are definatly cornfusified by whats on the ballast schematic. See pictures below:

If the 2 blue wires are for the bulb (output), it doesnt matter which wire goes to which on the bulb side..

That manufacturer really needs to get it's act together. My E-ballast, which I bought with the first set of ProLenses, has blue/brown = INPUT and black/red = OUTPUT. I figured it out by looking a the guage of the wires, taking the case off and verifying the connection to the PC board.

I suggest that LL examine each one shipped and include a small 3x5 card deciphering the connections because the schematics on the outside are bewildering.

And thats what makes the membership worth its weight in gold.

On both sides of the coin, getting the answers I needed and sharing the info
so that others don't have to repeat the hiccups.

mine had blue/brown blue/brown.

I had to open it up and there was a surprise.

blue on input side is live and brown is neutral.

they don't follow color code standards like in pc business.

Tech Tip

Also check the crimp for the ground lead inside case too..

Looking at the female side of the computer plug. The 2 blues can be either way for the mogul and bulb.

What about blue/brown?
I have both and am not sure which is live and which is neutral

This is the problem with international standards.

In the USA (and Canada) the standard is that black is live, white is neutral.

The EU and AUstralia, blue is live, brown is neutral.

A lot of other manufacturers will use red as live, black as neutral.

And then the standards collide. Some will take up red/black, but use black as neutral as per the black/white.

In any case, just so long as you ensure that you connect things up the right way.
