ok, here is my first screen shot.
17" NEC lcd. PRO kit, pro reflector with lighting kit from LL. screen is black out cloth from Joans.
drawer slide focusing mechanism.
I tried moving the bulb near/away from back lens same results.
made sure that fresnels have proper orientation and that bulb is in middle.
Any suggestions from the experienced folks here ?

Reverse the fresnels and see what you get... that isn't the pattern I saw when mine were the wrong way, but it is similar. You have a totally different projector, anyhow.
I don't think this is your problem, but fresnel grooves should always face each other. I'm just putting it out there.

What nickestorga said. I believe that effect is seen if the fresnels are problematic? Can you post a few more details? Distances and some pics of your projector?

Also which direction do your have the flange pointed on the triplet?
Pro is opposite as you might think, if I remember correctly.

Fresnels are facing each other with LCD in the middle.
pro triplet flange facing lcd.
dimentions are as below (everythig is in mm).
triplet -550- front fresnel -10 - lcd -15 - rear fresnel - 0 - lexan - 220 - bulb - 2 - pro reflector
pics comming up later today.

And you've verified you have different fresnels of focal length expected? I can imagine something like this if your focal lengths are messed up.
Numbers look right I think for around a 15 foot throw?

and moving the bulb closer to the rear fresnel doesn't do anything? (almost every body has it closer to 200mm than 220, mine is about 190mm) ... though I have to say that picture is almost a classic picture of fresnels reversed... like durachko says, check your focal lengths first , make sure they actually are different first! when I ordered a 550 mm I cut it and put it in my pj and fired it up and coupldn't figure out what was wrong with my picture till I took the 550 out and tested it and it turned out to be 220 instead...

I better check the fresnels again.
also, can some one confirm the following ?
550 mm fresnel (front) grooves towards LCD.
220 mm fresnel (rear) grooves towards LCD.

yes, that is correct (as long as the lcd is between the 2

If you are using an unsplit configuration, the 550 fresnel should have its grooves facing away from the LCD. But as I said before, just make sure the grooves of the fresnels are facing each other, no matter what.

Looks like the fresnels are in the wrong order. Put the front one in back and the back in front.

Are you getting corner to corner pixels clearly, or are you getting just the words and picture to come out clearly. Meaning it looks focused, but the edges the pixels are a little blurry. I am guessing it is gonna be impossible to get a true pixel corner to corner focus, but I could be wrong????
