RotorDemon
Snap crackle pop.. buzzz.... biggrin.gif
RotorDemon
And I said.... LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RotorDemon
Just too neat. biggrin.gif
RotorDemon
First (kinda) test.
RotorDemon
That is the "nipple" on the MH Bulb approx 4 inches diameter, at about 15 feet away, lid open, and still light outside, with the garage doors open, on painted white plywood doors and no reflector.. laugh.gif

I'm impressed so far.
joecnc2006
Good job Rotor, Glad to see you did not give up on it because of monitor.

Yea just about perfect projection of the bulb, just like it should be, wait will you finish it will be great.

RotorDemon
Had to redo part of the box (measurement error) and add a few mods.
RotorDemon
Hood up!
RotorDemon
Focus Box
RotorDemon
8 inches of MAX travel (in and out) 5 inches sturdy.
RotorDemon
Fan Box. (Going to mount the fan on the outside so I can butt the ballast aganst the back wall. Will be open on the opposite side of the fan to block some of the light. This will house all the electrical switches, Power plug and Video inputs.
RotorDemon
And a little peek through the triplet.
Meeper
That's looking superb Roto. I love your focus box design. smile.gif
RotorDemon
Still have to carve the bowl but, looks purdy inside.
RotorDemon
Held the fresnels by the end measured to spec. put a plate of glass that I scribbled on because I was getting exited laugh.gif

Either that or I have a REALLY big sharpie. blink.gif
RotorDemon
The room almost setup. Guestimated 120" Horizontal picture. red box is to give an idea of what widescreen video could be.
kjudki
Nice job.

About the focus box---- I started with a similar focus idea where the whole front wall moves but it interfered with the pc boards that extended into that front floor area from the LCD. For that reason I changed to a smaller box in a box to clear everything when I wanted to move the projector back for a big picture and had to "rack in" the focus all the way.

What kind of LCD will you be using? Do you know where the PC boards are going to have to sit?
RotorDemon
I thought about that last night. I'll remove the bottom of the box and probably put rails in it. I really doubt I will need to go 4 inches in. laugh.gif

Monitor is a "557 V2"
supermadmax
Here is a pic of my Pj with the Benq boards and my focus box about all the way back. My focus box is 4" long.
Coolmatt
So RotorDemon whats new biggrin.gif
RotorDemon
Workin workin.. setting up the room.. I changed it *agian*

Waiting for the LCD to get here.
RotorDemon
Switch and fan box.
RotorDemon
Switch and fan box. open.
RotorDemon
Neat little pic... Try holding a camera while doing an exposure shot LOL

The wire going into the box is a temp probe I haX0r3D together. No lenses in there yet and it was staying about 86-94 degrees depending on how far I had the fan box open.

ScOrPiOn
Check out the projection on Page1 in the garage with daylight...hell you could almost watch movies there if the garage door was shut halfway.
Nice job Rotor...hope you have caught/found the group that hacked your website...although it appears that they didn't have anything else to do so they deleted some files from your server and left

If the reflector were working as expected, shouldn't it be lighter than it is? In that image there is just a halo and it is otherwise dark. To my unknowing eye the reflector doesn't appear to be reflecting much.
RotorDemon
Trust me.. even the image of the bulb on the wall is bright.. laugh.gif

Sunglasses ON! cool.gif

Don't forget the reflector we use we are trying to return the light back to the arc of the bulb not project it forward, thats what is happening and why you do not see a bright light from it and see just the bulb, because the fresnel is what gathers the light and it is concentrated to the center of the arc of the bulb....
RotorDemon
woo hoo.. Pics.
RotorDemon
more..
RotorDemon
one more..

Rotor,
Did you take the pictures while the movie was playing? It just looks like they are a little fuzzy in the background....then again it is probably just the aftermath of pausing the movie while the characters are moving.

Looks great though regardless. That screen size is huge smile.gif I'm assuming you have kids, hense the Little Nemo. Have she/he/they seen this thing yet? I was worried that it would terrify my two-year old son to the point that he would never watch it again huh.gif
mwatson125
great job!! man that is a huge screen.....

Good job, it look s very efficient design.

I have few question:

I was wondering why your fan doesnt have an air flow from outside. I means,it is enclosed in your little box right?

What kind of reflective metal did you used for the bulb compartiment? aluminum?

thanks

I hope you are not 3 feet tall, as I want my image to be as big as yours if you are about 6 feet tall. . . that is what I am interested in, the 10 foot -tall- images [and 15 wide], not the 10 foot wide [and 6 tall].

that projection looks really nice and inspiring

// sorry if I seem to be a giddy little child, I am just anxious to build
