1000bulbs.com for the 'Eye' bulb BT28 envelope, the spare bulb (Lumenlab bulb) was one I pirated from another projector I have in my garage.

Hi again.

You have two projectors?
I suppose the Eye bulb has better red?

Thanks!

I like the picture much better with the Eye bulb - it shifts a little to the yellow side of white, the LL bulb shifted toward the blue - it's a personal preference to be sure, but I like the flesh tones to look a little 'warmer'.

We built a second projector based off of the Haas design for my father-in-law, but he never used it - said the picture was too big!

Thanks for the info
Too big?
LOL

Might consider going the rear projection route? Given some right material, I guess you could re-use that second projector and make a smaller "TV" with it. Say 50 inches or so. Some have had good results with that kind of setup. smile.gif

Cheers!

One of my brothers has laid claim to it, so I'm storing it until he can pick it up which will probably be next May. Guess I should put the bulb back in it! blink.gif

Another video showing the projected image, this time with the LL bulb (improperly positioned) and no reflector. I will reshoot this soon with the Eye bulb/reflector combo for comparison in brightness.

Ok here is the new video showcasing the Eye bulb - compare it to the link above. Much brighter when the bulb is in the correct position and has a reflector in place tongue.gif

Hi again,

Does seem warmer. True, there's a reflector there biggrin.gif.

I was wondering how to get more "richer" colors. Nice comparaison videos smile.gif
You're projecting on blackout cloth?

Cheers!
Rorshach
Yep - blackout cloth - 8 ft x 6 ft. I'm happy with the brightness (plus reflector!) and color of the Eye bulb - it's subjective to be sure. biggrin.gif

Well, as long as you're happy. It's what counts in the end, no?

I'll look at the eye bulb once mine breaks. On when I have time to start another project. . must.not.buy.10.6.lcd.

Awesome! I have a 12X16 room that's over my garage...in fact it's the room I'm in now.....and I'm thinking about making it my theater room! It's just that I have absolutely no tools, no wood working experience and no electrical experience so that's what's kept me from trying this project!
The new pre-built LCD projector looks like something that's right up my alley but I think I'll wait for the next generation before I buy.

In order to learn, one must do, and in order to do one must learn - so read here, aquire the needed tools as you need them so you dont buy what you dont need. take your time and have some fun with it. The mega - kit imo - makes it pretty simple on the hardware side, all in one sorce - then you pick an lcd of choice - perhaps a synaps 15.4 or such for some 720p and bobs yer uncle.
I say go for it - nothing will beat that feeling of having the guys come over for some poker and a flick whilst sampling the best the brewery has to offer infront of a picture of ( insert actress here ) with ( insert body part here ) the size of a small SUV. >:) from a projector that YOU built. you are the king, its your castle - and they shall bow before the awesomeness that is the home built DIY lcd projector.

OK, bizarro happenings with my projected image. There were black moving specs all over. I replaced the vga cable between the PJ and the Viewsonic N6, but they were still there.

I replaced the N6 and now they are gone.

Question - has anyone else experienced this behavior from an N6? Is this N6 unit a door stop now? unsure.gif
