Hi everyone

Well im going to start building my first projector, and im going to attempt a Hass style enclosure so first things first:

Hass man, thankyou for making your drawings freely available, I hope I can build this thing as good as you intended the design to be. smile.gif

I downloaded the 2-D drawings and got my girlfriend to plot them at work (to scale, and no cost) tongue.gif !!

I dont have much workspace, nor do I have many tools to work with  so please bear with me, this may take a while. Heres where I'm up to:

Before I assemble the enclosure, I am just waitiing on the heat sheild (Galvanised plate 2 mm), this should be arriving on thursday.

Thanks for the warm welcome Swill01 and Capt.Video

Anyway whilst waiting for my heat shield, Ive been trying to find something to use for my triplet focusing mechanism, Ive been everywhere looking for insparation but just cant find anything  .
Then I came accross one of my birthday presents from last year ohmy.gif

I must admit, after I dismantled it and mouted the triplet I thought it was extremely funny biggrin.gif . Im just thinking that its compact and would enable double the focusing freedom than if I mounted the triplet on its own??. I dont know, I think I will keep searching for something else, and use this as a last resort. biggrin.gif

haha.. its funny once you start working on this project, you see everyday items all the time and think "how can i use that in my pj?" biggrin.gif

The problem I have with this, is that I cant fly the stupid thing, I have flown it twice and guess how many times I have safely landed it without completely smashing it up, none biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Oh well back to the project that I can actually use, hopefully sad.gif

I put the case together tonight, although its not to the standard as I would like it to be. Im going to blame it on the tooling, or lack and skill of it sad.gif .

heres some pics for you:

I shall have to start thinking about the light and ballast etc soon so as to order them ready, I read somewhere that Brain was looking into a new bulb??? And theres the issue with the Ushio being longer blink.gif

Oh well, I shall post more pics on thursday when I have the heat shields and box painted smile.gif

Nice plane...Looks like you have some building skills. I have some pics of some of my planes on my PLOG...and I crashed many times...but part of the fun is building them...the only problem is the larger ones run around $1000 and up. Thats alot of green plowing into good ol' mother earth. Dont fly em if your fraid to wreck em!
Hopefully i wont crash my pj either. laugh.gif

Where in England are you from...I lived in London for a couple of years about seven years ago. I love the country almost as much as the good ol' USA. London is a blast and an awesome place to live..shame its so damn expensive though. sad.gif
aero1103
Hi Capt. Video

Thankyou for the comments smile.gif, I live around 200 miiles north of london, "Derbyshire" just below Manchester, its a lot cheaper smile.gif.
Just looked through your PLOG Capt, those planes are great biggrin.gif are they all internal combustion engines? mine is an electric motor but its pretty fast still, well for me anyway. when I designed it, the cruise velocity should be 10 m/s which I thought would be OK, but hell thats fast for someone that cant fly them, hence complete loss of the aircraft followed very quickly by 2 dogs chasing it down the field and eating it sad.gif.

Im going to do some more work on the projector enclosure tonight, I'll post some pictures for you biggrin.gif

All the best

The job for tonight is painting smile.gif

Heat resistant paint from the local hardware store.

I had planned on painting just half of the enclosure, but I got a bit carried away, never mind.

I'm thinking about buying a vantec 120 mm fan for the cooling, has anyone any advise on these they could give me? such as if one will be enough, or should I put two on?

Tomorow, heat shied and bottom covering.

Thanks for looking

Hi everyone

Got hold of some galvanised plate today for the heat shield, its 2mm thick, hopefully that should do the job smile.gif .

I am just wondering whether to paint the plate or not with the heat resistant paint, any advise would be much appreciated. biggrin.gif

I think its time to order my bulb and ballast from the store.

Tomorow I'm going to try and get the bottom panel of the enclosure on, Ive got the old faithfull Benq 557 V2 to strip, but because of all the problems people have had ripping the ffv cable, I want to leave this until I can dismantle it and mount it in the case in one. biggrin.gif

Thanks for reading folks!!!!!!!!!
