I have a few 600W HPS Lighting control gear around the place and I really didnt wanna go out and buy a 400Watt unit...I can use the Sunmaster 600Watt Conversion lamp in a 600Watt HPS Ballast. I am wondering, going by the specs below this lamp will be suitable

Sunmaster 4000k 600 Watt metal halide conversion lamp

T25 bulb with nickel plated mogul base
Operates on a 600W HPS ballast
Universal operating position
Glass lens required on fixture
4000° Kelvin color temperature metal halide bulb (produces 50,000 initial lumens for vegetative growth stages)

SUNMASTER Conversion Grow Lamps are Metal Halide lamps which operate on standard HPS ballast and ignitor systems. The Neutral Deluxe version emits balanced light similar to a 4000° Kelvin source, while the Cool Deluxe version emits light similar to a 7000° Kelvin source, imitating the natural look of daylight

You would need to use the 4000k version of the lamp, I think the other would be too blue. Do you know how big the arc is on the lamp? You would realy need to find out. If the arc is too big to fit in the triplet you would just be wasting it and might not yeild very good results.

I dont know the arch and if it does look average then it wouldnt take much to replace the 600w with a 400w unit.. (4 Screws) might be worth a try, I was more concerned as to the amount of Kelin and Luminens

I ran into this lamp the other day. It looks real good for a 600 watt hps ballast

They want too much money for it but the color temp is nice and cool.

The arc tube may be 50mm or 60mm so you will have some spillage. but it should be brighter than a 400 watt setup.
