Hi,
I'm currently looking into gathering the parts I need for the 15" projector before I order the parts I need from here. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any great deals on 15" monitors here (Toronto) right now. So here is my question. I've seen several laptop LCD replacement monitors on Ebay (just the screen) and am wondering on the possibility of buying one. I assume I would need more parts, something to make it connect to a regular DVI video card as well as a power source for the screen itself.

Is this realistic at all? I can't find any kind of guide to laptop LCD's.

You would need to get a controller for the lcd. Theres a guy on ebay who sells screens with controllers, I think they are 15.4". The controllers have rca inputs, and he sells the controllers seperatlly for around $100. His shipping to Canada is pretty expensive though.

I think I saw that guy on there. 59 dollars to ship to canada? rolleyes.gif

So are you saying that any controller will work with the LCD? It doesn't need to be for a specific size/resolution.
Something like this lets just say. http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEC-CCFT-Controller-NL1...1QQcmdZViewItem

No, the controllers are specific to one or two lcds. He states in the auction which lcds will work with his controller. Your best bet, if you want to go the cheap route is to look on ebay for a screen with a bad backlight.

Ok, thanks. I'll just keep my eyes open for one. I was just wondering since someone posted that they bought a contoller in the group buy and it happened to work with his LCD.
