Do I solder the hot wire to the 10 amp fuse? (what all do I need to solder when doing the wiring?) Oh and how do I wire the fan power supply? I've seen the schematics but they show it having 4 wires going to it, but when you strip the wire coming from the AC adaptor it only has 2 wires, where do I plug the other wires in?

I am referring to these two things

10 amp fuse

And the 120 VAC to 12 VDC Adaptor from the LL store

Hi Blake. Before I answer your questions I want to give you a bit of advice. I really think it would be a good idea if you could find someone to be there with you and help you wire your projector. I am sure you can do it, I just think that you should have someone more experienced there helping you.

You should get a fuse holder for the fuse. The fuse holder will have terminals for connecting the wires. If you solder directly to the fuse you will have to do more work to change the fuse.

The adapter you show in your picture is meant to plug into a wall outlet. In the schematic the 2 wires coming from the 120Vac supply would connect to the metal prongs sticking out on the transformer. The proper way to do it is to have something for the transformer to plug into. I mounted an outlet on the back of my projector. Some people use a power strip. You could even cut the end off of an extension cord.

If you have any doubts about what you are doing, be sure to ask on here.

David.

I second davidcb's comments. If at all possible get some assistance from someone acquainted with electronics safety and assembly. In the end you won't be sorry you did. Your questions show that you perhaps have a little less knowledge than you should have to do what you intend to do. Please don't take that as an insult. We only wish you to have a successful experience with your build. smile.gif wink.gif

Edit: The fan will have either two or three wires coming from it. Only two of them are necessary to run it. They will normally be black and red. The wires coming from the AC adapter will normally be both black but one will have a white stripe on it. The red fan wire normally goes to the black adapter wire with the white stripe. The black fan wire normally goes to the black adapter wire. Note that I seem to overuse the word "normally"? That's because you always gotta double check everything to make certain you don't have something non-standard. That's where familiarity with and a reasonable working knowledge of electronics comes into play.

Good luck and seek assistance from someone familiar with electronics or at the very, very least proceed with extreme caution and ask for help here. cool.gif

I agree with the above comments. I put an electrcial outlet on the inside of my box so it would not be apparent, then I ran power into that, adn plugged the LCD and power converter into it. Good luck and be careful. I would definately use a fuse holder instead of soldering to the fuse. They are very cheap. Be aware that you may have to cut and strip the wires on the fuse holder also.
