Hey guys
I built a small form projector for my dorm room about a month ago, using a 7 inch screen from a dvd player. Though I'd post up my design and some result pictures soon. Basic components included 7 inch dvd player from target, lens, fresnel, and light from an old overhead projector, and an oak case I built using limited tools. Hopefully I'll get the pics up as soon as possible and I'd love some feedback too. Thanks

The light is spread out pretty well. You just have to make sure that you with the mirror the optics still are all the right distances. At first my light was supposed to be a little further out but because of restrictions of the box i moved it further closer to the mirror-thinking that it might block too much light from one side of the screen. Fortunately the light on the final image is pretty spread out-its slightly dimmer on the left side but not really noticeable.

Hey guys-sorry its been so long-ive been busy with school. Here are two screen shots. Im projecting onto a plain white sheet for now so the quality wont be amazing but its fine for me. The pictures were taken with little ambient light and without flash-which causes some bluriness in the photo but i tried to stabalize it as much as possible. Also due to the fact that i was trying to minimize the form factor, the light ditribution is not so amazing on the left side- but that could easily be avoided with proper optics alignment. Enjoy

Holy crap that's cool, I don't know if I'd have been brave enough to build a PJ for my dorm, but luckily I didn't even consider it until after I'd moved out. Very nice looking, especially with the 'limited tools' you mentioned.

Nice job!

That's what it's all about... rockin' the pj in the dorms. Congrats!

That looks like a nice, innovative little design. I bet you can brighten up the left side of the image with a little tweaking.

Nice work. What model dvd player did you use?

Its a truetech pvs12701b. They were selling at target for only $100 and its insanely easy to strip with no ffc issues. The only problem with it is it does not have and video input options-something that i meant to check but i got so caught up in the amazing deal that overlooked this fact. Great for movies though!

I'm sorry but I really don't know. There's not a lot of info on these screens-only thing that I've found is the users manual and theres no technical info in it. The resolution is not amazing on the screen instelf but I would guess the res is about 640x 480, doubt its at 800x600 and definitily not above that. Gl
