I was wondering if somthing like this would work in my project. If i use the glass that comes with the light and use a couple of fans behind the light for the heat that the buld makes.

just a thought

or would it create toooo much heat.
of course I dont want to burn the project or my house down.

I've seen these kind of lights at home depot for like $6

OK thanx

[Disclaimer: just finished building mine]

I doubt this would work, because you need a "point source light". When I was looking at the optics for my projector, the bulb is centered at the exact focal point of the rear fresnel. This point was dead center of the envelope of the lumenlab bulb, which is probably no more than an inch long.

These halogen bulbs, while being bright, are very long...producing light along the entire (3"? 4"?) of the filament.

Inside my projector, as soon as I had my bulb off center by the slightest bit, the image would get much darker... so unless your light is coming from a very small area, its going to be wasted.

This is pure unfetered daydreaming, but i wonder if they make a fresnel that has concentric ovals, as opposed to concentric circles? That might work for those purposes, but i've never seen one, and if they existed i'm sure lumenlab would have them

If you want to save money buy the 250 watt ohp lamps they don't last that long but you can get then on ebay for like $10.00 you will need an wster fan or heat glass. They run on 82 volts so you will need the rectifier from a OHP.
