hello, I bought an ic power monitor from walmart. It has nice specs 15" 500:1, 16.2m colors, 16ms etc

Now the problem. The thing stripped easily down to the light housing and lcd. I ran into a huge problem I think but maybe someone can tell me how to save this. There is a dreaded 90 degree ffc. It has 16 pins and is approximetaly 7/16" wide. The other problem I see is at the corners of the horizontal and vertical driver boards are small copper strips soldered to the boards and then screwed to the back of the light housing. I tried to capture all of this in pictures. I am sorry for the quality, but all I have is my phone.

First driver boards out of the way.

Now comes the 90 degree heartbreacher

and finally the wierd ground strap things..there is also one of these attached to both vertical and horizontal driver boards which I would have to seperate.

Thank you for any input at all

could you be more specific as to the model number and brand? i think a couple of people have used walmart monitors.....

The FFC is fixable, there are extensions in the lumenlab store. The ground strap things are no problem, you will just have to attach a wire from all the contacts that have a strap to your grounding strip and you should be fine.

Most LCD's can be adapted for use with a projector, some however are more fragile/pain in the ass to deal with. What you have there is one of the more tricky ones.

It is an IC power cm2015. I think it maybe the balance renamed, although I remember people saying the balance strips with no problems

How will i know if the lumenlab extensions will work tho? And is there anyone that would cary these locally? Patience is not my strong sute... especially when im this close

I doubt you would be able to find an extension locally, the extensions in the store are .5mm pitch, how far apart are the leads on your ffc?

This project is all about patience unfortunately.

Yeah, I will have to be patient. The original width I posted was of the whole cable, not the contacts. I ordered a .5mm pitch from the store here so I will let you know if it works. On another note I broke the black clamp that holds the cable in on the zif connector on the lcd board. What can I use in its place? Thanks alot

anyone have any clue on what to use to hold the cable in a zif socket with a broken hold down thing?
ArchibaldTuttle
Glue? Maybe that silicone stuff.

That "hold down thing" is just a wedge to press the FFC against the contacts. So I would just reinsert and then glue or silocone. The silicone should be able to be pealed off if you have a need to remove the cable in the future.

thanks, my concern with that is i thought maybe the wedge produced a downward pressure to make sure and hold it in the contacts. I thought If i just stuck it in it might not have a tight(relatvie) fit. Thanks for all of the help. Sorry if I am too green
