I can't vouch for this particular model, but the LT-P1745 and LT-P1545 Samsung LCD TV's strip very easily. AG is also easily removed with rag method on those. You might want to check the LT-P1745. It has component video inputs for doing 480P. You'd need a scaler for this one to hook up a DVD using progressive scan.

I have the Samsung in my pro kit. Nice LCD, makes for a nice bright projection, too.

No DVI though.

I'd recommend the Samsung just by brand if nothing else.

My experience with Westinghouse has been poor, really poor. I have a friend who bought a 40 something inch plasma, it worked but the resolution was poor on everything. THat includes 480/720/1080 and any computer resolution we could throw at it.

Then last month I bought a 19" Westinghouse LCD with all the TV inputs a person could use. It seemed perfect, it wasn't. 1440x900 was the advertised resolution, computers could only get 1300something. Forcing it with powerstrip looked the same up to 1680x1050, blurry and pixelated. TV via cable or Dish Network, both HD and analog looked pixelated as well. Westinghouse when I called them insisted I was wrong and said I was doing something wrong when they walked through the display properties, like I could drag the resolution to a setting that wasn't there. Poor hardware, poor support = no Westinghouse for me.

Samsung on the otherhand is great, I have had two LCDs by them over the years, great monitor/TV combos. Lots of other various stuff that has worked well also.

I have a Westinghouse lcm-17w7 that I am using as my current computer display it was fairly inexpensive and I think it looks great. I am new to the diy projector community and am currently using a commercial projector for entertainment but it is on its way out after 3000 hrs of use (blue lcd panel or polarizer). I got the Westinghouse to relive some of the usage of the projector since it used to function as my computer display as well and have considered building a LL projector from it. I striped it to see and then reassembled it. It was very easy to strip and does not use fcc's don’t know about the antiglare removal and the back side of the lcd panel looked very reflective like a mirror so I don’t know about that ether but if it is not a problem than I would say that it would make a great projector color is awesome and motion blur doesn’t seem to be a problem with movies or video games.

Btw, the image clarity is pixel perfect as a computer display at native resolution (1280x768) it was blurry at first but I just pressed the auto adjust on the OSD and it was fine.

I read on here somewhere that it was a very easy strip, no connectors on the side, and thus no FFC issues. I think I even saw someon do a strip down, not 100% sure. I have actually purchased this screen myself for my next projector. I have been using it on my desktop for some time, and have not been disappointed yet. If you want feel free to PM me and ask questions. Since I have it I can test your questions out if you like.

Please stop.

All these posts are just getting annoying.

Do your research and go for it. That's why it's called DIY.

Yes, it is very easy to strip and the antiglare comes off using the water soaking method. I just ordered the pro fresnel lens set and will be upgrading my projector in the near future.

Yeah, this is arguably a trivial post. This is a decision best made on your own. That said, it's understandable to want to seek advice. Note that there are a lot of considerations to make aside from those you've outlined. If you haven't already, see this topic for an example. Happy decision-making! smile.gif

Do not use A-Si TFT the panel does't take the heat very well, go with tft.
