now I think the panel is no good its to bright I can't see the picture (barely) is there any way to fix that or should cut my losses and get another monitor
EdZ
A site called 3dlens sells replacement polarisers (the layer that you have most likely stripped of the front with the AG).

Yep, you've stripped off the polarizer. As EdZ said, you'll need to purchase a replacement sheet of polarizer film from 3dlens.com or another company. I did the same thing when I stripped the AG off my LCD - put a replacement on and it's better than ever.

thank guy for your help. Shrivel do you know what type to get there is 2 different option for lcd any sugestion
Chad N.
In my opinion, the only one to get from polarization.com is the ultra high contrast stuff. Their cheaper film comes in a tube, and is so curled its worthless.

when you guys replaced the polarizer, where did you actually put it? did you attach back onto the lcd itself or some other way?

Most people seem to tape the four corners, gluing might cause more loss of light unless you have the special transparent glues.

tape the four corners to where, the lcd or something else?

Before you just purchase and cut a sheet of nonA/G'dpolarizer and tape it on your panel you have to find the degree of polarization that your LCD was originally laminated to begin with. If you still have the film that you removed then place it back on the area of your panel you removed it from. Place a light source behind your panel and then shift the film until you see the best illumination of the light. Do this a couple of times and you will see that the transmissiveness thru your panel will get from brightess to darkest, while doing this notice how much your shifting the film in degrees. If your shifting by 45 or 90 to 0 then thats the degree of your replacement polarizer should be placed at. And place it at it's darkest angle. Also, make sure it's large enough so you can cut a pattern large enough for your panel with the degree in mind.

So you are telling me that I have to place the polarizer at an angle to the lcd, not parallel to it. I don't understand the degree of polarization. sad.gif

dac086, place the film you removed back on the side of your panel and place a light source on the other side of the panel. The panel should be turned off just use a bright flashlight on the otherside. Look at the light source thru your penal and then begin to shift film around. You will notice the shade gets darkest to lightest. When shifting, see how much you have to turn the film until it gets darkest to brightest....45, 90, 180, 360 degrees? Do what I've explained above and you will see what I mean.

ok i get it!

I noticed if you have the polarizer at a 45 angle and flip it over it will now work at a 90 degree angle
