Hey,

I'm new to the DIY community and am going to start building a projector soon. Before I do though, I was wondering whether I should build a 15" or a 17".

Is the quality really that much better? What are the advantages? Does 17" have 720p while 15" doesnt?

Do the pro lenses produce a much better image then the standard?

Thanks

Main advantage of 17" is 720p instead of 720p scaled. How much difference does it make, I'm not sure that anyone has been able to quantify it both are good and I don't think anyone has been disapointed with a 15". PRO Lens set while better than the standard is only really necessary for long throw if you can't put your projector within 10 feet of the screen or so. 17" + PRO is better than 15" + standard but you won't be disapointed with either. If money is tight go with the 15", if you have some spare cash then 17" is even better.

if our projector is gonna be within 10 feet of the wall, would it be a waste to still have a 17 + pro?

also i thought the farther away your projector is from the wall, the bigger the image will be? does this mean that 10 feet is the max before the quality of the image is too poor?

What I said was
"only really necessary for long throw if you can't put your projector within 10 feet " i.e. use the long throw to increase distance greater than standard
