Full Version: Single Fold Design 17"

Air intake will be located near the bottom (front of projector) and exhaust will be about midway up the back. I’m planning on using 80mm fans to help move air inside and possibly a bigger exhaust fan in the back.

The big questions are;
1. With 80mm fans could there be too much air flow through the bulb chamber?
2. If the fan layout is optimal? The fan feeding air to the fresnels/LCD will have a fin, which will "help" disperse the air evenly across the entire surface.
3. Should I create two exhausts ports? One for the LCD/LCD Electronics and another for the Bulb chamber / ballast.

Any other tweaking / opinions are welcomed. I’m trying to keep the design as simple as possible and at the same time leave enough flexibility for fine tuning and parts replacement.

I think you should avoid air directly on the bulb, exhausting the box is the preferable solution. Direct air on the box could harm the bulb they need to stay hot to work and keep the metal halides in plasma. You only need to cool the box to keep the heat away from the LCD.

Thanks for the input pager. I've changed things around and once I get my Plog going you should be able to see the changes.

Thanks again.
