Full Version: Cleaning of Polar

Well, after a bit of grief, I managed to get the antiglare off.

Soaked for 12 hrs & left a big patch on one side and up though the middle.

Its was 4 in the morning & I was getting frustrated.

Best thing that I did was soak the remaining patch & go to bed.

3 hrs later, went back at it. It peeled off like a hot knife through butter.

Just have to do a little cleaning on the polar to remove a bit of glue residue etc.

There are glue marks on the border of where the original glare material was removed and
where the material I final removed meet. Probably more glue still down from the first peel.

Any suggestions on type of cleaning solution / steps & type of cloth???

(I've gotten this far & don't want to screw up now!)

Thanks

Start with distilled water and a very soft cloth, like a cd cleaning cloth.

I did a lot of tests with messed up Lcd's, and almost everything that touched the polarizer left it "hazy". De-natured alcohol, Isopropyl alcohol, mineral spirits, paint thinner, acetone, EVERYTHING but distilled water.

You have to sometimes wipe a lot with water but the residue will come off.

Do you you have to let the water sit for a while or do you dampen & wipe?

Usualyy you just dampen and lightly wipe. But you do have to wipe a lot to get those stubborn spots. You will notice when the glue is breaking up. I twill be hazy and a little hard to wipe and then all of a sudden it will be easier to wipe and the screen will look "smooth" under the water. Then use another clean soft cloth to dry it off.

Will give it a go.
