I don't have a picture, but there are the flexiable ribbon-like cables coming off the top of my LCD as well as the side. Are the ones on the side necassary for operation? (I noticed there are pins on it that are not connected to anything.

I know this sounds like a noobish question, but the ribbon on the side is going to be a pain to deal with and it would be nice if I could chop it off.

LOL i feel you! seriously totally feel you, what type of LCD are you using? yeah the board on the side is essential for LCD Operation what type of framing did you use?

I actually bought rpearsey's box. It has a little sled to sit the LCD on, but the fresnel sled is above it and I can't just stick the FCC to the side because of this I'm thinking of cutting a slot in the sled that holds the LCD and just stuff the FCC in there...

NO , NO , NO, no "stuffing". VEY CAREFULLY place the ffcs where you want them to go. These things are VERY fragile.
