Sure thing -
These first pictures are taken by my back door looking across my kitchen with both kitchen lights on - a hanging fixture and a large 2 bulb flourescent fixture. The room is quite bright.

Truly one of the most inspiring builds to date. I absolutely LOVE those screens that show you the projector, how big the screen is, and the image quality all in the same pic.

I was wondering, how big is your screen?

Wow, thanks!
The screen is 9' across, but the current projected image is somewhere in the area of 6.5 feet across. Anything other than a 2.35:1 image spills off of the screen which was built for my first projector.

So going to the straight throw and moving closer worked out for you in the end images looks great. Your original design was great though as far as the concept/style it's a shame it didn't work out.

Did you use the LL focal calculator to determine whether or not your projection would fill the entire screen before building your projector mount? And I just noticed something, it doesn't appear that you are getting black bars on the top and bottum of your movies. How were you able to do that with a 4:3 LCD?

There's nothing wrong with the vertical - as you well know from yours - I just couldn't get it closer than 13 feet to the screen, which mucked things up for me.

This screen was built for another projector. I've always intended to build another one for this projector.
You can see the different "black bars" in person, but with the presets on this digital camera they disappear.

I'd have to get a tuner card for my laptop, but yeah, I think it would work fine so long as it wasn't too bright outside.

Been away from the forums for a bit. Real life reared its ugly head for a while.
But, I'm gearing up for the final push on the the new build - mainly the new screen.
I've dismantled my current 9" wide 2.35:1 BO cloth screen and will be incorporating the frame into a new screen - pics to follow.
This screen will have a 4:3 viewing area that is 84" wide and 66" tall. The screen itself will be some 1/4" birch ply that I'm going to attach to the frame and paint.
I'm going to be building the frame and applying the 1/4" birch ply tomorrow.
My question is: is there a consensus on screen paint at all?
What I want is the type of paint or mixture of paint that will give LL the greatest visibility during the day. I'm very close to being able to watch the projector during the day as is on my B.O. screen, and want to take it to the next level with this one.
I've posted this in the screen forum as well, but want to also address it in my plog.
Thanks

Still laying out the frame. Because of the size, I'm having to piece together 2 pieces of plywood. I didn't want the seam showing so the larger piece of pine is to stabilize the two pieces.

The painted screen.
First, I sealed the board with a few coats of flat white primer. And followed the RS-MMMaxx LL formula found below -
http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...mp;#entry131098But, I used a roller and do have a few problems that are of my own making, mainly texture and some mild hotspotting. Plus, the seam is fairly visible in the hotspots.

Here's a a pic of the paint troubles I'm having.
Luckily, PbMaxxx has said that I should be able to sand it a bit and add a final coat of RS-MMMaxx LL to it to help with the situation.

The good is I can see it during the day. I've got a couple of bad shots which are blurred. The camera is also not on the right setting. So, I'll do some more probably tomorrow. But, I can see clearly what is going on the screen, which is a huge improvement.
The angled glare to the right of the screen is a reflection from the 8 foot window which sits just the the left of the screen. The trim is a white oil gloss and is refracting up from the base to the screen.

So, here's a dark thought I'm having - the eballast as a product is essentially unreliable.
This is my second eballast. As far as I can tell, I've done everything properly. It worked for months, and now, nothing save for the clicks of it trying to ignite.
As an isolated case, this would be an exception, but it sounds like there're real issues with this product that have adversely affected number of people.
For my own part, I've destroyed my living room ceiling and wall to install a projector that is based on a product that has broken twice. Add to this wifely, reluctance to continue countenancing what she sees as an annoying bit of tilting at windmills and this is a really !&@*#& situation.
I have real doubts about my box being able to support a coil ballast. So, if the eballast is really a crapshoot then I'm afraid, this might be it.

Whoa, whao rpearsey, before you think about trashing everything you've so far accomplish are you really going to allow the eballast (2) to push you over the edge and call it a complete waste of your time especially after you've taken it this far. It would have been easier buying a commercial and rely on the warranty to take care of the headaches that come about but that's the most easiest route, would there have been any enjoyment compared to actually building it and the satisfaction of actually seeing it work. Not many of us can say this.
I say take your losses and sell your eballasts on ebay for whatever they're worth and get yourself a coil. You built a pretty good pj and there's no doubt you can figure out where you can mount or place the coil whether it be in or out. As far as the WAF, good luck.

Yesterday sucked all the way round. So, there's a bit of hysteria in my last posting. Blackberry broke, computer broke, major contractor not performing and then the projector continues to not work.
Unfortunately, there doesn't look to be enough room in my projector for a coil ballast. Built both projector and the support box for the eballast. I'll see what I can do.
Even so, this doesn't address the problem of 2 defective products in a row.
This is diy so I expect to mess up on the screen and have to fix it. I half expected the projector to fall out of the ceiling or not work. That'd be part of the process. But, a product you pay for should work, and it's frustrating that it's not.
This is not meant to be a slam on Brain or LL. I'm still thrilled with all of it. Brain's always been responsive and the customer service here is great, but I'd like a resolution to this.
