Full Version: small panel/long throw?

What would be the best optics set up for a long throw projector using a 7 to 9" panel?

I would like to get an optics set up that has a throw ratio like the pro-lens set-up.
But, fit for a small-LCD,

Might that ill-conceived 135mm lens from that other site prove usefull here, or is there a better solution?
Its been reported that it dosent work with a 15" LCD(or a 17 for that matter without mods!)
But there members say that the middle of the image is focused, but not the edges...
So Im thinking this lens would be suited for a smaller panel/ long throw PJ.

I would like to use 2 LL 220 fresnals, and a longer throw triplet.
Im getting good results with the (2) 220 fresnals.
How do I figure this out? Should I try the 135mm?
If it works out, then maybe Brain could source somthing similar but better for this application if small builds ever pick-up in popularity.
It would seem that smaller hi-res panels have got to get cheaper and more popular in the coming years.

what sort of throw and screen size to you want? Using a 7-9" pannel will already have twice the throw of the standard triplet with a 15" LCD so you proabbly already have a long throw setup.

Thanks for the re Pagercam...
Thats a good point,
I was thinking that, but wasnt sure just how much it would lengthen the throw. I would like to have somthing like 6' wide at about 10' back.
So the standard lens set should put me in the ball-park then?

With a 7" at that distance you would have about a 65" Diagonal image.

With a 9" it would be about 85" or so diagonal.

Perfecto!!
Thanks for the help gents, I cant use that newer Dazzla focal calculator with my mac.

Now all I need to do is bump joe's universal small pj thread.
Just kidding, Im sure he is busy CNCing giant robots that will save the universe in the near future wink.gif

I would like to use his enclosure with this project.
