These rules will be Effective immedately.

1) All ads in the Trading Post forum will have a 1 month time limit. Any user wishing to extend their add beyond 1 month must ask a moderator before their time is up.

2) Please keep your ads limited to AV related items. DIY Projector related items preferred however DVD players, and Audio receivers etc are all okay.

3) Be a good salesman! Post all pertinent info you can think of. Clearly state your price. Answer any questions in a timely manner.

4) No Illegal Items. Including but not limited to:
Xbox's which are illegally modded
Software/games/movies which are obtained or copied illegally.

5) All For Sale adds must now include a picture with the following.
a. Picture should include the item you are selling
b. Picture must include a hand written note in it with the seller's screen name, the date, and the name of the forum.

6) Sale spoiling/Auction interference
Deliberate attempts to undermine or corrupt a sale such as posting competing prices, redirects, or negative comments will be terms for summary dismissal. A buyer may have certain reasons for their asking prices. As a respectful community we shall honor these offers and allow the seller to negotiate their own terms as long as it falls within the scope of the LL policies. If you feel the need to question the sellers price, or deliver a counteroffer, please keep it within the confines of a Personal Message.

Thanks, and good hunting! tongue.gif

Suggestions:

1. Please mark your ad with FS, (For Sale) or WTB (Want To Buy) -- this makes it easier for people to know what the ad is for.

2. Please keep the topic up to date. You can do this by editing your first post, and changing the topic and description fields.

3. When the transaction is completed, you can close the topic. At the very least please update the thread topic to say that the itm has been bought or sold.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Would DIY speakers be an acceptable item to sell?
GadgetSmith
yes. smile.gif

Any way to encourage buyers and especially sellers to identify their city and country location at the time of posting. No offence fellow members from the USA but you seem particularly guilty of this omission. smile.gif

Unfortunately profile information is not too helpful in most cases because those details are not filled in.

Thanks

btw) A feedback forum would be very useful on this site.

I realize this isn't ebay, and you guys arne't in teh customer service busienss..

but if something was agreed upon in a sale and it doesn't arive or isn't correct, is there anything that lumen lab can do to mediate?
GadgetSmith
This area in the LL forum's is provided as a courtesy. LL does not involve itself with disputes arising from sales made in the trading post. If you have a concern or complaint, it's best to try and work things out with the seller. If this does not help, it is always best to use a service like paypal or such where they have options for mediation when things don't work out.

Added a new rule :

5) All For Sale adds must now include a picture with the following.
a. Picture should include the item you are selling
b. Picture must include a hand written sign in it with the seller's screen name, the date, and the name of the forum.

This is hopefully to prevent anyone trying to sell something they don't own.

Also we have added a Trading Post Feedback Forum. See the Rules and Tips sticky in that forum for info.

The purpose of the new rules regarding pictures is to prove that you actually have the item for sale. As such, the note must be hand written and physically in the photograph, not edited in later with software.

Acceptable, were I selling a phone (I can prove that I have that phone in my possession):

Unacceptable, were I selling a car (as anyone could google a Lamborghini and use paint or photoshop to put their name in the corner):

I'll give you $10 cash for the car. Did I win?

You're going to send me a cashier's check for $10,000 and I'm supposed to forward the balance to your "friend". Right?

Should be no problem with that. What prompted you to ask? Some specific wording in the rules somewhere perhaps?

Edit: Eh, I suppose I see why you asked. I'll go out on a limb ohnoes.gif laugh.gif and say sure you can post a laptop.
