Right now I have an S400DD bulb with the LL ebalast. Within the past few days, the brightness of my bulb has started to pulsate... it's not really noticeable unless I'm looking at a still image, but I assume that's a sign that the bulb is dying (though I've only had it since around August or September 2005).

Anyway, I came to the site to see about getting a replacement, but it looks like they're sold out. I noticed that there's a new bulb in town -- the Pulse-Strike T15. I'm considering just getting that one, but I'm concerned about the color temp. I've been searching the forums, but can't find much about it... guess it's too new. Can anyone who's used one of these bulbs tell me if the lower color temperature bothers them at all? Also, I'm fairly satisfied with the brightness I get out of my projector as it is, but maybe with the T15 and a pro reflector the extra brightness will be worth living with a lower color temperature? Any thoughts?

I assume the LL ebalast and mogul base that work with the S400DD will work with the T15...

Basically it depends on your taste. If your monitor has a cool and warm color setting which do you prefer. The SD400 would be considered cool , and the Pulse Strike would be considered warm.

Do you like your projection with more blue/green tint or with the warmer yellow/red tint ?

The Pulse strike to me is better, but that's because I prefer more natural "flushed" skin tone colors. To me the SD400 made everything to "blue". But some people prefer that color temp.

So take a look at your monitors and T.V's , what colors do you prefer ? It's that simple. smile.gif

I have the Pulse-strike T15.

It's good for brightness, but the white values are definitely to the warm side, as compared to the S400DD.

Watch a show for a couple of minutes and you stop noticing, just like you stop noticing the warm colour from incandescent lights indoors.

The bulb arrived yesterday and it sure is brighter, even with the Ikea napkin holder still in. biggrin.gif
One thing's for sure, though -- I'm going to have to find a way to beef up the cooling system in my projector. The temperature near the LCD is staying below 90 degrees, but I had to take the new bulb out because it keeps throwing the breaker in the projector and there are definitely some singed areas on the MDF above the bulb. blink.gif
