Ok, I'll post some result pic's.....

Understand that I shifted my frensels and reflector around after I recieved the new pro lens and the alignments are far from optimal. As soon as I finish building a new enclosure ( hopfully 50lbs lighter ) this things firewood.

I took these pictures in about an hour. didn't have time to mess with camera settings, angles, etc.

oh yeah... do you have any measurements on the LCD size? That would be most helpful to me and anyone else with this. I will probably do a detailed strip with pictures when I decide to go at it. smile.gif

just wondering are all of you guys with this LCD using the pro lens? What are the focal distances you are using for the build? Also are you guys going split or unslpit? I have pretty much everything I need to build.. I just need to plan the box.

on a side note my dreamcasts powercable worked in my LCD so I was able to play with it. So far it looks amazing. I have a HDTV tuner, but I need that HDMI adaptor cable. not cheap either.

I purchased cables/adapters to meet most of my input needs at Monoprice

I had the same prob and called technical support. Well, its not a problem its just how the tv is. Component wont take HD signal. The VGA and HDMI will though so go get urself an adapter. You wont be dissapointed. My 360 looks amazing on this tv.

I just got back from picking up an DVI to HDMI cable. My laptop looks amazing on this thing. My tv didn't come with much of anything so the guy is sending me a vga to component adaptor for playing my xbox and dvd's etc. I want to upgrade to an upconverting dvd player some time soon too smile.gif

The component video inputs on the back of the tv do not support an HD signal, but the VGA connector does accept component HD with an adapter. Like this.

The TV is darn confusing, as to what inputs take what signals and where to select the input on the remote.

I'll try to explain:

S-video- /on the remote is "back".
Standard component (non-progessive)- / on the remote is "CVI".
HD component via the VGA input (480p,720p,1080i)-/on the remote is "HD-A".
VGA- /on the remote is "PC-A".
DVI Via The HDMI input- /on the remote is "PC-D".
HDMI (480p,720p,1080i)- /on the remote is "HD-D".

i think I am confused, how are you able to watch 1080i if the resolution is 1280 by 768? are you just saying it downscales 1080i?

That’s a good question. From what I've heard and read, the best you can do with 1280x768 is 720p, but that's on a computer monitor.
I haven't found anything in the Philips docs that does a good job explaining how the 1080i works.

I do know, that on the HTPC, the Catalyst control center reports in the TV display properties as having a maximum reported resolution of 1920x1080 and a maximum refresh rate of 85 Hz.

When playing a movie through the up scaling DVD player there is a difference in the detail between 720p and 1080i, I also notice a big change on the Xbox.

If the resolution is 1280x768, then 1080i/p will be downscaled (1080 basically measn the resolution is 1920x1080). If the set does not have a native resolution of 1920x1080 or above, then any 1080 signal will ne downconverted.
