I just want to pass on the following info: Both Viewsonic's VP171b & VP730b Monitors are listed as having DVI-D, 1280x1024 and HDTV-720p compatibility... Which sounds like you plug a DVD player with DVI-D directly without worrying about HDCP. I wrote to Viewsonic's customer service and got the following:
QUOTE Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for contacting ViewSonic Technical Support. They are not HDCP or HDMI compliant. You can watch HDTV on them, but will need to use a tuner such as the N6 or HD12.... P.S. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place -------------------- |

VP720b - NOT 720p/HDTV compatible
VP171b - NOT HDCP compliant, can't plug DVI into that You could theoretically convert component to VGA, plug it in that way. I've read that the 1st edition of the 171b (16ms) stretches and distorts the 720p. The 8ms 2nd edition might not, haven't found info on that. |

Tried the VP171b, doesn't work, stretches the 720p to full screen. This was the 8ms version.
