I am looking to getting one of these things but I have stipulations as we all do. I am a cheapskate by nature so this is what I want.

1. OTA only
2. No subscriptions
3. Record TV/ Pause Rewind Live TV
3. One Tuner is Fine
4. EPG (MUST)
5.HD preferably (I can handle 480P) NO 480I
6. standalone NO PC

thats pretty much it I really like the Phillips one but no EPG forget that my brother had a TiVO that was free it only did a couple of days in advanced but it was free and it was only 480i. Does TiVO do an HD free one or anybody have any suggestions.

The best one I found is the Sony DHG models but they are discontinued and cost a pretty penny. Unless anybody can point me to some other ones maybe some older dish or direct tv ones wink.gif that would do the same job wink.gif

Just to let you know, I just got a tivo HD for my birthday, there is a coupon code 3FREEHD when you activate it to get 3 months free. And really a monthly fee is not bad considering you get a top notch product and service. I leave my tivo plugged into ethernet and when I am away from home I can schedule recordings online and come home to have them all right there ready to be watched. Just my quick review biggrin.gif Also I am using mine with a component to vga transcoder and it works great with my projector.
