Maybe it has to do with how the mount appears to be functioning normally. Perhaps you were referring to the baseline hatch, right here, beside this aft attachment point. Then by modifying this guidance bridge array, we can make it work in conjunction with the flux beam. If we use the environmental dissipation replicator to align it with the optimal beam polymer, then I believe that this will increase the efficiency of the dorsal improbability bay by 63 percent, thus reducing the load on the tertiary reserve panel.

63%? That'd never work...

Hi everyone, today we got to run the X and Y for some coordinated motion. I wanted to have a logo on the deck for some up-coming promotions I am doing. We stuck on a sharpie and had-at-it for a trace so I could "paint by numbers". I had tried the marker on some cardboard and it worked fine at high speed. Much harder on the painted surface (no give), plus I had toasted the marker a bit trying to get a feel for the pressure. Still, after the trace we got the logo painted in ~20 minutes. Sorry I threw away the fast motion test videos to make room....RoGR can go fast, but the marker dries up!

When we were done, we just painted-in the strokes...

Yeah, that looks very good!

As a person who has spent a fair amount of time staring at that font (particularly the R - while making the various iterations of my micRo logos) it's especially cool to watch it being drawn out. smile.gif

There's always a critic, lol. But it is funny how wiring management creates a huge jump from amateur to professional real quick.

Me? I'm sure it will all be handled when the controllers are all in and wired permanently. I'm more interested in the end results anyway...I can't wait to see that bad boy cutting some micRo Y/Z blocks.

Ok, time for some tests. We got the machine set up with a stylus and began making runs over the entire table.

Attached File  blkbg1.JPG ( 316K ) Number of downloads: 9

The locations were plotted on tape and measured to compare to the expected distance.

We kept getting a small error on the Y. We had a lot of theories and spent hours testing and changing things to no avail. If the error would have been random we would have figured it out quickly, but instead it was always the same, which had us chasing ghosts around the driver, encoder and software. Turns out it was just a dirty parport jack! Blah!

My little boy came by to feed RoGR's legs some Alan wrenches. Since the leveling feet are welded in, the only way to get anything out is to take the leg off. Nope!

While Robin tested I set to getting our small router mounted for a promo we're trying to pull off today. Hoping to have some video tonight.

Well, I "had" to carve a pumpkin and I figured nothing could be scarier than myself, so I set out to get my face on Halloween's billboard. In truth, there wasn't much challenge...a grayscale image to <imgtogcode> function, an interface provided by EMC2; and oh yea, that whole "robot needed thing" that everyone makes some big deal about. I don't see too many CNC pumpkins...yet...

They say beauty and brains don't go together....yet they were wrong twice!

Attached File  gpumpkinheadshot.JPG ( 144.73K ) Number of downloads: 4

So that's what I started with. Now to convert my image to a depthmap and mill it on the RoGR of course! What a beautiful thing that we were able to drop the bed down the required 8":

Attached File  premill.JPG ( 427.43K ) Number of downloads: 6

We ran the RoGR really fast...convinced we were only making pumpkin pie:

Attached File  pizface.JPG ( 407.87K ) Number of downloads: 9

Attached File  pizzaface.JPG ( 465.91K ) Number of downloads: 8

So...after RoGR blended this pumpkin, what was there? I mean, could my sex-appeal carry over?

Attached File  gpumpfinished.JPG ( 224.82K ) Number of downloads: 6

Attached File  finlit1024.JPG ( 404.32K ) Number of downloads: 20

Heheh, there's a lot to be said. Vids coming up...

You know by now I'm never one to be afraid to ask questions so . . .

How does a dirty parallel port connection result in a consistent error? You mean there was one connection that was always "off" - so to speak?

The Brain-O-Lantern . . . did you take into account either the wall thickness of the pumpkin to avoid going all the way through or the curvature of the surface itself when mapping out routing depths? It's the perfect first job for the RoGR! biggrin.gif

Too cool! Is this the promotion you were talking about?

I was wondering about the curve of the pumpkin too... or did you maybe look for the flattest pumpkin you could find?

Ok, so, is there going to be an equally as whacky R W Turner jack-o-lantern, too?

That has to be a pain to clean up, you'll be smelling pumpkins in the shop for weeks.

Wicked good fun. Since it is election season maybe you should do up a couple of the presidential Candidates and see which one gets smashed first.

And Im sure the kids would like a family portrait.

I'm not sure if this accounts for the level of consistency for the error, but, it does make sense if the direction pin is not sending 1% of the time..... Of course this doesn't rule out other things absolutely, but it definitely is an error dependent on that parallel port pin (why is another issue....).

We purposefully carved a little short of the wall thickness BTW...

Also, curvature was an issue, so we picked pumpkins with a flat-ish side. In the end it wasn't quite flat enough, but, the curvature ended up adding to the shading around the edges of the face.....

The parport issue...no clue! Like I said, if it were random.... One theory is the resistance was high enough to cause some count error or buffering/dropping of steps. When I said the error was consistent, I didn't mean we measured to the step but rather our indicator markings on the axis kept showing an advancement of about the same amount per 20 cycles.

Q1: Part of a bunch of stuff I'd like to do to get the robots moving around the web. Q2: I looked for a flat pumpkin, but we also ran the job in two pieces; the 'face' was set for a 1" max depth and the outline was run at 2" of depth.

Yes I think we'll do Robin's head tomorrow; we have another pumpkin we got for a backup. Surprisingly, the mess was minimal, but I did smell strongly of pumpkin when I got home,.

I really like the look of the bed. Will you lay sacrifice on top of that once you move beyond pumpkins?! ... hate to see the logo messy'ed up.

Let me know what size allen keys your missin' and i'll send you one out of my "bucket" laugh.gif ( kids; gotta love 'em! wink.gif )

Hi Charlie, sacrifice, vices, whatever. Lately I've been thinking about a "Dr. RoGR" so you could get up there and, you know, run the DIY open heart surgery program or something. Those pesky Dr bills!

Hey OKFlyBoy, sorry if this is too off topic but I was wondering about your avatar, the stubby E-3 aircraft drawing (I think it's an E-3)

I went to Embry-Riddle in the 80's with a guy who drew a/c caricatures just like that. I'm totally blanking on his name right now but was curious if you knew who drew yours (no offense if you did it yourself)
