One of the things I like most about having the big screen is rocking out to concert videos. With the dark lights, the wide angle scope and expansive sound of a home theater, the experience really comes alive. I have three videos I highly recommend:
Linkin Park - Live in Texas This is just a great concert footage DVD. For any LP fan, all the favorites are there, and the guys just don't hold back a bit. The segues are very professional, the sound is excellent for a live performance, and you can really see the intensity these guys put into their work. Fleetwood Mac - The Dance After having been out of the spotlight for over a decade as a team, Fleetwood Mac got together again for this concert/album. The setting is very intimate and the lighting is spectacular. What is interesting is watching the emotions among the band, especially for those who know some of the history. Great performance. Lindsay Buckingham does some absolutely outstanding solos on the guitar. And, of course, there is the inclusion of a set with the USC Marching Band. AC/DC - Plug Me In This two disc set is broken out into the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras of the band. So far, I have only watched the first disc, but that was fantastic. The discs are a compilation of the most quintessential performances related to that period of the band and for that specific song. It includes footage from broadcasts, documentaries, interviews and fan-shot video. A must for any AC/DC fan. I hear that Kissology is excellent as well, and my list of desired rock DVDs is growing. If anyone else has recommendations or wave-offs, drop em in here. There is one Yes DVD I have also ... can't remember the name, but it is lousy. When I track that down I will post it. Great thread, man! I'd like to add to the list if its OK:
Blue Man Group: The Complex Live This DVD is great for any existing Blue Man Group fans, you'll see exactly what you'd expect, Blue Man Group acting weird and yet still producing amazing music from homemade PVC pipe instruments while being backed up by traditional rock instruments (guitars, drum kits, etc). For those who haven't heard of them before, they will be fans by the end of the DVD. The amazing range of colors the Blue Man Group always throws into their shows (lighting, makeup and even flying paint Galager-style) make it a great DVD to run the Projector through its paces. -------------------- OKflyboy - Resident Jack-Booted Thug.
