If I read this right it takes HDTV up to 1080P as its input and then outputs to VGA? This is what I'm thinking of going with for my system, just run the 1024x768 PJ off of VGA and have a converter like this one at the external tuner (DVD etc). Wondering how it does with resizing... I was also looking at this HDTV to VGA on eBay.

This is the query I have outstanding for the eBay product:

Will this product take any NTSC or HDTV (up to 1080i) and display it in 1024x768 resolution on a computer monitor? How does it handle resizing and upsizing? Does wide screen display letterbox or does it truncate left and right? Thanks!

Will update you on the response...

All this device will do is take whatever signal is input via component and output it via Vga.

It will not change the resolution or image in any way.

A 15" Lcd would still only be able to have a 480p signal max. it would not allow a 1024x768 Lcd to accept a 720p or 1080p signal.

It's not actually nearly as complicated as it seems. The general idea is to throw some lenses and a stripped LCD panel in a box with a bright light.

This might be the item you are looking for. This will take in any video signal (480i, 480P, 720P, 1080i) as component and output it to a selectable VGA output resolution (such as 640x480, 600x800, up to 1024 x 1280). Only problem is that this item is not cheap. But it seems to fit the bill.
