Today I purchased my first-ever flat-screen monitor, and I can't seem to get the hang of the so-called buttons.

I think on the one I had, the buttons were actually a flap of plastic, then when pushed bent; and depressed a rubber nipple looking type thing. I cant remember if they are grey or black. Either way that rubber piece has a small contact on it, that when pushed it touches the circuit board and sends a signal.

Consider the fact that it just may be faulty/defective. Also, can you provide a good picture of the control button area? Have you checked for a website? Is there a manual for it?
