I have a 17" projector (large) and right now i dont have a spot to put it. I switch off from my room (11x13x12) and my garage and both ways i just set it on ad collapsable table with adjustable legs, but i want something more permanant and somewhere that DOESNT take up so much ground space

what did u guys do to mount the projector? (pics would be nice)
i would LOVE to celing mount my projector i dont know how
and inserting a shelf would be cool but i display it on my wall and on the other side is my closet, so im out of ideas,

please help!@

I am sure this could give you some ideas.

Personally I am going to take the standard stand you see people making for the haas box and turn it upside down and mount it to some 2x4s which will be laid across my ceiling joists. At least that is my scheme right now...



I was also thinking about possibly putting a larger board up there and mounting a threaded pipe up there somehow....

anywhoo you can do a search of the PLOGS with the term "ceiling mount" t find some stuff

I have seen several posts where people build a table which has teh projector in it. Basically i think it looks like a large box with a lense coming out one side. Sometimes people go nuts and put touch screen LCDs on them etc... these come out quite nice sometimes.


Really to ceiling mount it just make sure you use material that can hold the weight.... I like the ceiling mount because you can easily run the wires nicely out of site

I went cheap/lazy on a mount for mine. I dug an old bakers rack out of my shed, replaced the feet with wheels, and set my pj on it at the right hight to prevent keystoning. I pulled out enough furniture along one wall to make enough room to park the shelves there, then put that furniture on the bottom shelf for stability. Rolls fine on carpet and is parked out of the way when not in use. And, as you can see in the picture, provides lots of nice flat surfaces to park other stuff on.

One thing, if you're going to go with a bakers rack like this dont spring for the wheels that fit it, they're plastic and wont handle the weight. I ended up using 3 wheel casters on a plate and ran a bolt up through the bottom of the plate into the threads for the feet. Broke 2 sets of wheels before I wised up.



Sad thing is, these were cheaper than the other ones I kept breaking.

Doh, I just realized I didn't need to buy the bolts, I could have just used the feet!

Hi,
I mounted mine on a swinging arm that brings it out when you use it and hides it in the wall when not used.

Screen goes in and out of ceiling, so everything is hidden when not in use.
