Lumenlab was founded in 2003 by husband and wife team Grayson and Kellie Sigler. The Lumenlab site was started as a resource for DIY projector building, providing a downloadable PDF guide and community forums. Parts for DIY projectors such as lenses and lighting have been available through Lumenlab since a few months after opening. Parts were stored and shipped out of our home in Hampton, VA.

In 2006 Tracy Sigler left his job at the Motley Fool and joined Lumenlab together with his wife Mary. At the same time Lumenlab moved to Asheville, NC. The company saw a lot of growth in 2007. A 6,000 sq ft warehouse was acquired in June, 2007 where product storage, shipping, R&D and manufacturing take place. Robin Turner recently joined the company as product repair man and R&D technician. Bennie Ingram provides customer service. Paris and Mars help in the warehouse.
